HRH The Prince of Wales has opened a new road at Mousehole AFC near Penzance that was built by a team led by GRS.
Following a national appeal – championed by Prince William, who is also The Duke of Cornwall – to fix the narrow, pothole-ridden access lane, GRS stepped in to build the smart new entrance route, benefitting the club and the local community.
With strong links to Cornwall through Maen Karne Concrete Products, GRS was able to bring in the civil engineering expertise of our national contracting business ISC to carry out the work, ending 40 years of frustration for visitors to the Southern Football League Division One side.
His Royal Highness was impressed by the new road and thanked GRS chief executive Jon Fisher, ISC managing director Darren Quinton and ISC project manager Toni Bartlett, as well as CRH senior executive Martin Riley who orchestrated the plan, before going on to meet players and fans at the club.
Jon Fisher said: “This is all about great people coming together to create long-term good for the community. The guys have done a super job and I'm very proud of what we've achieved. Massive thanks to all the firms that contributed as without them this could not have been delivered.”
