Congratulations to colleagues in our specialist marine business ISM (Integrated Solutions - Marine) who recently won the CEMEX UK Supply Chain Contractors Safety Award 2024.
Cemex Head of Rail & Sea Mark Grimshaw-Smith went aboard one of our fleet of tugs to present the award to ISM Head of Marine Daniel Zamai in recognition of four years’ incident free marine operations. Dan is pictured (far left) with Mark (centre left), ISM Master Joseph McCarthy and Engineer Eugene Garillos (right).
Formerly Walsh Marine, ISM’s versatile fleet moves bulk materials in and out of London via the River Thames as well as around the South East coast. That includes transporting more than 100,000 tonnes of sand and gravel every year for CEMEX, keeping thousands of lorry journeys off the capital’s busy roads.
Using marine freight typically achieves a 75% carbon saving compared to road transport, with each loaded barge equivalent to around 20 HGVs travelling across London.
