GRS acquires two more aggregates bagging plants

17 February 2017

GRS Group has announced its second acquisition of the year just days after completing the purchase of Cornish company Maen Karne.

Two bagged aggregate operations – in Staffordshire and Devon – have joined the GRS Group from Aggregate Industries (part of LafargeHolcim) for an undisclosed figure.

GRS says the additional facilities enhance its local offering in the Midlands and South West, securing the firm’s place as the UK’s number one packed aggregate supplier. The plants are located at Barton under Needwood (near Burton upon Trent) and Uffculme (near Taunton).

Chief Executive Officer of GRS Jon Fisher said: “Along with the purchase of Maen Karne, buying this acquisition reflects our optimism in the economy and the building industry.

“Over the next few weeks we’ll be working to ensure a seamless transition for existing customers of the two plants so they start to experience the high levels of service we’re able to provide, coupled with an extensive range of core, decorative and specialised aggregates.”
