Governance
As GRS has expanded its business activities, the Group has strengthened its focus on robust governance and alignment with market best practices. Throughout the organisation, from board level to our sales and operations teams nationwide, we maintain the highest levels of transparency and accountability to ensure that good governance is embedded within our working culture.
Leadership Team
GRS operates a two-tier governance structure, with a distinction between the role of the Group Board of Directors from and the Executive Management team.
Ethical Sourcing
In accordance with our expectations of all our stakeholders, we are fully committed to always operating to the highest ethical standards and we expect the same from our suppliers.
Our Ethical Sourcing Policy sets out the standards that we expect from all of our suppliers, no matter where they operate in the world. We are committed to working with our suppliers to help improve their labour and environmental practices.
We expect our suppliers to support the ethical standards set out in our policy with regard to workplace safety, environment, fair pay and other employment conditions.
Modern Slavery
GRS operates to the highest ethical standards in all our activities and takes a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, enforcing strong controls to ensure it has no place in our business.
We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors and suppliers, and we are committed to ensuring transparency throughout our supply chains.
Gender Pay Reporting
GRS is pleased to publish its Gender Pay Report for 2024. In previous years our gender pay data showed that the average pay difference between women and men was continuing to decrease and that any ‘gap’ was the result of the different roles carried out by men and women in the business.
This trend has continued in 2024 as we continue to increase the diversity of people who carry out different roles within the organisation.
Tax Strategy
GRS is committed to full compliance with all statutory obligations and full disclosure to relevant tax authorities. The group’s tax affairs are managed in a way which takes into account the group’s wider corporate reputation in line with GRS Group’s overall high standards of governance.
This strategy applies to GRS Roadstone Group Limited and to the group of companies headed by GRS Roadstone Group Limited in accordance with paragraph 16 of Schedule 19 to the Finance Act 2016. The strategy is being published in accordance with paragraph 16(2) of the Schedule.
Operational management
We are proud of the high standards we strive to maintain across our operational sites – bagging plants, block works, rail terminals, aggregate processing plants, etc. Many GRS operations are ‘co-located’ within quarries and other production facilities operated by third-party companies.
These are subject to the same rigorous health, safety and environmental controls which apply to all our site operations. We strive to operate to the highest standards in health, safety, environmental and quality management.
Being a good neighbour
Many of our sites are located near residential or commercial areas. This is necessary as our products are most in demand in towns and cities. At all of our operations, we have invested in solutions to address common localised concerns such as air quality, noise and traffic. On rare occasions when local residents raise concerns, we are committed to responding quickly and do our best to resolve issues rapidly.
GRS also supports a range of local community initiatives close to our sites. We sponsor many grass roots sporting teams and charities, and have formal partnerships with a number of organisations.
