Drive for GRS

One of the most important parts of our business is transporting materials from where they are sourced to where they are needed by our customers, as well as removing unwanted materials for reuse or recycling. So we work with hundreds of drivers nationwide – either as directly employed drivers or as contract hauliers.

Employed driving opportunities

We’re currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (C&E) artic drivers for tippers and flatbeds at locations across the country. If you’re interested, send your CV to jobs@grsroadstone.co.uk.

GRS operates our own fleet of trucks delivering materials on flatbeds and tippers to building sites, merchants and retailers. It’s an important job, not just distributing our products but meeting customers face-to-face and ensuring safe, sustainable driving at all times.

GRS is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from people of any background, gender, race, origin, belief, ability, orientation and status.

We’re always on the look-out for experienced, qualified and enthusiastic HGV drivers. We offer a range of benefits and flexible options for the right candidates:

‘Master Driver' apprenticeship scheme

GRS was one of the first companies in our sector to introduce a ‘Master Driver’ apprenticeship scheme. The scheme supports new and existing employees in working towards securing their HGV Class 1 licence to operate an articulated lorry from GRS sites in London and the Home Counties, East and West Midlands, and the South West of England.

We’re always looking for motivated people to join our comprehensive 13-month training programme, which combines hands-on experience with classroom learning, preparing you for a successful career as an articulated truck driver, specialising in building products.

The apprenticeship also builds useful skills in operating mobile plant and fixed machinery, as well as health & safety, teamwork, communication, customer service and more. And working for a large nationwide company provides plenty of scope for future career progression.

If you would like to apply for one of the positions, or you know someone who might be interested, write with CV to jobs@grsroadstone.co.uk.

Independent contract hauliers

GRS Trading is supported by a nationwide network of independent hauliers who deliver aggregates and muck away services. Hauliers are selected to operate in accordance with our continuously improving standards of safety, sustainability and customer service.

There are multiple advantages to working as an independent contract partner and many of our contractors have enjoyed the benefits of continued loyalty to GRS as the business has grown.

Driving for GRS also brings with it responsibility – these are summarised in our Independent Haulier Handbook. In it we outline the primary responsibilities of anyone driving for GRS as an independent haulier, a subcontracted haulage company, or an employee or contract driver of an independent company. Subjects covered include health and safety, driving and the law, the GRS values, delivery procedures, administration and processing.

If you would like a copy of our Haulier Handbook or have any questions about being an independent contract haulier, please speak to your GRS representative or use our contact us form.

Social mobility pledge

In order to support the growing gap of employment opportunities for disadvantaged people, we have joined hundreds of other UK organisations in committing to the Social Mobility Pledge.

Social mobility refers to people moving “up” or “down” social hierarchy. In the context of the Pledge, we are committed to taking steps to boost opportunities of employment for those perhaps from lower social standing, enabling upwards social mobility.

Whilst we already have good practices in place, we will continue to expand our efforts in a number of ways, for example:
