Integrated solutions for bulk freight by water
GRS provides marine handling services on the River Thames and around the South East coast, moving bulk materials and spoil as part of an integrated freight operation.
IS Marine runs a dedicated fleet of vessels that gives the business huge versatility – that’s why ISM is often used to support major civil engineering schemes requiring shallow draft, coastal and sea-going tugs to provide towage for barge transportation. All ISM vessels have PLA (Port of London Authority) licences for operation on the River Thames.
Each day ISM moves up to 10,000 Tonnes of bulk cargo by river – removing the equivalent of around 400 lorries from the roads. Of course, not every part of London and the South East has direct marine access but by combining river, road and rail assets, GRS is able to maximise the amount of material transport on the water. ISM has unrivalled access to many wharves and berths along the Thames, and can also supply material handlers and operators on all foreshore sites.
